Description:

About 150 species of Albizia are native to Africa, Asia, Australia, and South America. They are shrubs, trees, and woody vines. Some of the large tree species are used for timber. This species is native to Asia. It has been cultivated in the southern United States for its large, rounded clusters of fragrant, pink flowers. The flowers are followed by large numbers of bean-like pods. Seeds sprout readily in sunny locations.

Size:

Medium-sized tree to about twenty feet tall.

Care Instructions:

This tree is listed by the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council as an exotic pest plant in north Florida. It should not be planted in north Florida. At the University of North Florida, staff is working to remove this species from the edges of woodlands and open pine woods.
