Description:
About forty-five species of Cornus are native to Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and North America. They are shrubs and trees. This species is native to the eastern United States as far west as Texas and Oklahoma. Small flowers are held in clusters at branch tips in spring. Blue berries mature later that summer. Birds eat the berries and distribute the seeds.

Water: moist soil, not very drought tolerant

This native plant is not commonly found in northeast Florida nurseries or gardens.
