Muhlenbergia capillaris - Pink muhley grass

Description:
Reportedly, over one hundred species of Muhlenbergia are native to the Americas and Asia. This species is native to Florida and the eastern U.S. The slender leaf blades grow to about two feet tall. A pink to purple inflorescence stands above the foliage in autumn. The flower spikes are surprisingly ornamental for a grass. As a result, this plant is growing in popularity among landscapers and gardeners.

Size:
Herbaceous plant with leaves to two to three feet tall. Flower spikes are taller than the leaves.

This native grass grows easily in northeast Florida. It is best in full sun in a wide range of soil conditions.
