The Department of Health Administration (DHA) at UNF is a vibrant, innovative, and unique place to study. Jacksonville, Florida is located in one of the most dynamic health services marketplaces in the United States and is home to 15 hospitals including the Mayo Clinic. The city also has numerous non-profit and for-profit health-related organizations. The Northeast Florida region has recently experienced growth in overall population and diversity. Jacksonville is geographically situated as a gateway for the movement of people, products, and healthcare services. As a result, numerous opportunities exist for student internships, residencies, and permanent employment.

UNF's Scenic Campus Experience

UNF has been rated one of the best college values in the country. The campus is located in beautiful, sunny, northeast Florida, just minutes from downtown Jacksonville, riverfront areas, and the Atlantic Ocean. The campus has been rated the most scenic in the state. The campus is located on just over 1,000 acres and includes miles of walking trails, zip lines, a lazy river, and other recreational opportunities.

Modern Health Education

UNF's Health Administration faculty is dedicated to providing a high quality educational experience. We offer students the ability to receive a 21st century education that blends cutting edge business and leadership skills with a commitment to community service. Students in all programs are active in a variety of service projects within the Jacksonville community, including Mayo Clinic, Baptist Health System, HCA, Saint Vincent's Health System, UF Health Jacksonville, and Florida Blue.

Our Comprehensive Health Administration Degree Programs


The Department of Health Administration offers the following programs: a Bachelor of Health Management (BHM), Master of Health Administration (MHA), Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA), Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI), and Doctor of Health Administration (DHA).

Bachelor of Health Management

The BHM degree, now fully online, prepares graduates for entry-level administrative roles in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and insurance companies. The program includes an internship option for hands-on experience in healthcare organizations. The BHM program is certified by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA).

Master of Health Administration

The MHA is a full-time 20 month, 45-credit campus-based program with evening classes from Monday to Thursday, designed for students with full-time jobs. It combines classroom instruction with field experiences and a practicum, aiming to develop future leaders in healthcare. A dual degree options, such as an MHA/MBA and MHA/MSHI, degrees are also available. The MHA program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) and is also a member of the CAHME Mentorship Circle.

Executive Master of Health Administration

The EMHA is a full-time 20 month, 30 credit program that is largely online and designed for working healthcare executive and clinical professionals. It offers a flexible schedule for healthcare executives, physicians, and clinician leaders to earn their degree while continuing their careers. The curriculum includes real-world case studies and projects to develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Master of Science in Health Informatics

The MSHI program, offered primarily online, prepares students for roles such as Clinical and Nursing Informaticists, Health Information Managers, and Data Analysts. The 33-credit program provides foundational knowledge for board certification in various informatics specialties, with excellent job prospects due to the growth of technology in healthcare.

Doctor of Health Administration

The DHA program focuses on global health leadership and evidence-based management. It combines 80% online coursework with 20% on-campus executive seminars and includes 36 semester hours of didactic coursework and 12 hours for a project. It prepares students to solve complex healthcare problems using evidence-based approaches.

The Department's full-time faculty support the BHM, MHA, EMHA, MSHI and DHA programs, supplemented by guest speakers and adjunct faculty with practical expertise. Graduates hold leadership positions in leading healthcare organizations nationwide.
