Construction Management Team Moves From 2nd to 1st in 2022 American Institute of Constructors (AIC) Ethics Competition

Congratulations to UNF Construction Management (CM) Ethic Team members — First Place in 2022!

The University of North Florida Construction Management (CM) students have participated in the American Institute of Constructors (AIC)  Ethics competition, a national construction ethics competition by AIC, on the 23rd of March and are competitive with seven (7) universities. As a result, the UNF CM students took first place in 2022.

This competition was a two-step process:

  1. Written response based on the given ethical scenario questions and
  2. 25 mins virtual oral presentation.

UNF CM AIC team members are four (4) undergrad students: Brent Akers, Gabriel Dioso, Anthony Andrade, and Genesis Ernest, team coach: Dr. Jonghoon 'John' Kim, assistant professor and industry advisor: Jeff McPhaul, Senior Project Manager- Whiting-Turner.

Our undergrad students analyzed the problem statement based on a real scenario, including unprofessional and unethical behaviors in the construction contract process. The team was asked to write an essay and give an oral presentation of their analyses to industry judges.

If you want to get involved in the 2023 AIC Ethics Competition, please contact Dr. Kim at jongkim@unf.edu.
