Notice of Proposed Changes to Laboratory Fees

Pursuant to Board of Governors Regulation 7.001(4), the University of North Florida is providing notice of a proposed increase to current consumable lab fees. The proposed increases will be presented to the UNF Board of Trustees at its full board meeting on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, 333 North Laura Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202.

UNF will be seeking approval to increase consumable lab fees, effective Fall 2023, for a select few courses for which the cost of materials have increased beyond the cost of the fee currently charged to purchase those materials. In an effort to keep the costs of education as low as possible for our student body, UNF has not raised course fees in eight (8) years. Given current market conditions, it was determined some course fees within the College of Arts and Sciences and the Brooks College of Health require increases in order to provide quality, innovative, hands-on experiences to our students.

The proposed increases range from $10-$30 per course, with the exception of Clinical and Applied Movement Sciences (CAMS) and Physical Therapy. Increases in CAMS and PT range between $20-$195, primarily due to the increased cost in cadavers necessary for these courses. A detailed analysis of current fees and proposed increases can be viewed on the webpageThe analysis also includes a non-UNF fee charged by a facility for students attending the course. Financial aid awards can be used towards the cost of these course fees.

Florida Statutes Ch.1009.24 provides the UNF Board of Trustees the authority to approve University fees such as consumable lab fees. For questions regarding the notice of proposed changes, please email Stephanie Howell, paralegal, Office of the General Counsel at showell@unf.edu.
