UNF public administration presents Public Service Excellence awards to city heroes
The University of North Florida Department of Political Science and Public Administration (PSPA) presented the inaugural Public Service Excellence Awards on May 2. The awards recognized public servants who went above and beyond for our Jacksonville community in their pursuit of government transparency and accountability that helped uncover conspiracy and wire fraud at city-owned utility JEA.
This celebration is part of National Public Service Recognition week, a time to honor those who work in local, county, state and federal governments.
The Public Service Excellence awards were presented to former City Council auditor Kyle Billy, Jacksonville’s first Ethics Officer Carla Miller and former City Council President Anna Brosche. Honorary Public Service Excellence awards were presented to The Florida Times-Union (TU) journalists Nate Monroe, Mark Woods, David Bauerlein and former TU reporter Chris Hong.
UNF Master of Public Administration students who are being accepted to the Pi Alpha Alpha national honor society were also recognized during the event as well as other outstanding PSPA achievements by undergraduate and graduate students.
