Tammy Badida, founder of Learning to Live Again: Grief and Caregiving Coach, started the business from her personal experience, recognizing a significant need for support services in the realm of grief and caregiving. Tammy endured the heart-wrenching loss of her husband, Nick, after 22 years of marriage, to cancer in January 2011. Following his passing, she felt a calling to share her journey of caregiving, navigating the depths of grief, and ultimately, learning how to live again. Her mission was not just about her own healing but also about connecting with others on similar paths of recovery. Tammy's goal has always been to provide comfort and insight to those facing these challenges, offering meaningful guidance to help them find a way forward.

In 2023, motivated by a deep sense of purpose, Tammy pursued professional certification as a grief coach. What sets her coaching apart is the depth of her lived experience, adding dimension to her work. Tammy offers practical advice and solutions when individuals face advanced care planning, financial stability changes, and new medical obstacles for their loved ones. Drawing from this professional and personal experience, Tammy created an impactful series of caregiving articles published on Shannonmiller.com. She has also had the privilege of speaking to diverse audiences about the key lessons she learned through care-giving and grief. Her approach combines empathy with practical insights, connecting deeply with those in need and helping them find strength, purpose, and hope during difficult times.

Tammy's journey has not been without challenges. She often tells clients, "I've walked in your shoes." Her small business venture as a certified grief and caregiving coach was born out of the challenges she faced. As a mother and wife suddenly thrust into the role of a caregiver, Tammy struggled to re-enter the workforce, recover physically from creaking, and find hope after her husband's loss. Her connection with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has been instrumental in her business journey. As a Jacksonville native and mother of a University of North Florida alum, she was familiar with the SBDC and the support they offer to woman-owned businesses. When it came time to seek assistance for her own small business, Tammy knew where to turn.

Learning to Live Again offers one-on-one, group, or employee grief and caregiving coaching. Tammy's compassionate guidance helps individuals navigate the complexities of grief with resilience and healing while providing personalized caregiver support. Her SBDC consultant, Marge Cirillo, is knowledgeable and genuinely cares about helping business owners succeed. Tammy's mission is to empower others through their healing journeys with faith and compassion, helping them find a way forward.

“The guidance and resources provided by the SBDC have been invaluable, offering direction and support during critical stages of the startup journey” Tammy says. “I consider the SBDC's services indispensable for anyone looking to start or grow their business, I highly recommend them to friends, acquaintances, and fellow business owners.”
