College of Education and Human Services launches residency with Campus Canines

The College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) is excited to announce the launch of its first-ever residency program in partnership with Campus Canines. Beginning this Summer B session and continuing throughout the academic year, the program will feature Hudson, an adorable Corgi, who will be available to provide comfort and support to students, faculty and staff. Hudson will be stationed at The CIRCLE (Community for Innovation, Research, Collaboration, Learning, Engagement), located on the first floor of Tom and Betty Petway Hall (COEHS, Bldg. 57), every Monday and Thursday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. This initiative aims to provide a unique support system, promoting mental well-being and stress relief within the college community.

Dr. Debbie Reed, COEHS Associate Instructor, expressed her enthusiasm about this pilot program. “I am excited to embark on this partnership with Campus Canines. Hudson’s presence will bring joy, comfort and care to our COEHS community,” she said.

The residency program is designed to offer a consistent and reliable source of comfort, with Hudson's visits becoming a staple in the college's weekly schedule. “This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone at the college. Hudson and I are looking forward to spending quality time with our friends at COEHS. Many students know Hudson already, and we can’t wait to meet many more new friends!” said Julie Schuneman, UNF Campus Canines Volunteer Coordinator.

COEHS encourages all students, faculty and staff to take advantage of this opportunity. Whether it's a quick cuddle, a calming presence during a hectic day or simply a moment of joy, Hudson will be there to support our Ospreys!
