Funding Undergraduate Research
Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (U-RSCA) Grant
The Office of Undergraduate Research provides funding to undergraduate researchers to support their research, scholarship, and creative activities (RSCA). Funding for materials, equipment, software, and travel will be awarded to undergraduate researchers (up to $1500) and their mentors ($500). Applications will be accepted twice each academic year on October 15 and February 15. If these dates fall on a weekend or holiday, the deadline will be the following business day.
Federal Work Study
The Office of Undergraduate Research promotes the Federal Work Study (FWS) program to fund research assistant’s wages. FWS is a federally funded program that provides college students, who are eligible, a chance to earn money while working on projects related to their course of study. The OUR has sample position announcements that can be tailored to the specific position. This funding is available in fall and spring, but not summer. Please let the OUR know when students are hired, so we can keep track of the number of funded research assistants on the UNF campus.
Conference Presentation Travel Award
The Office of Undergraduate Research provides funding to support students who will present their work at off-campus conferences. Funding for registration fees, lodging costs, travel, and meals will be awarded to undergraduate researchers (up to $500) who have been accepted to present at a conference. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but must be received at least four weeks before the travel date. These funds will be dispersed to the student’s home department.
FURC Travel Award
Registration and travel costs of presenting students can be covered by the Office of Undergraduate Research through the FURC travel award.
