Get Involved

There are many opportunities to get involved in Student Government. We encourage you to contribute ideas, share your unique perspective and opinions, and take part in making a difference on campus. The voice of our student body is essential for our Student Government to function effectively. If you are interested in applying for a position, please see the list of current applications on our homepage.

Elections

Elections are held for positions within Student Government during the fall and spring semesters. For any questions, please contact the Supervisor of Elections, sgaelections@unf.edu or go to The Office of Elections Perch Portal page.

The Executive Branch works to address student concerns on campus. The Executive Branch is comprised of the Student Body President and Student Body Vice President, the Executive Cabinet, Executive Staff, and Executive Agencies.

Executive Cabinet

The Executive Cabinet is comprised of the Treasurer, Student Advocate, and Attorney General. The purpose of the Executive Cabinet is to advise the Student Body President and Vice President on general matters and to assist in the coordination of the Executive Branch. The main duties of the Cabinet are to complete any initiatives, projects, events, and other tasks deemed necessary by the President.

Executive Staff

The Executive Staff is comprised of the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Director of Public Relations, Director of Graphic Design, and Director of External Affairs. The Executive Staff works closely together with the President and Vice President to complete any projects, initiatives, and events that serve the student body here at UNF.

Executive Agencies

There are four Executive Agencies under Student Government, Osprey Involvement Center (OIC), Lend-A-Wing (LAW), Lend-A-Fit, and Osprey Student Conduct Advisors (OSCA).

Legislative Branch

Senate

The Student Senate is composed of 40 senatorial seats, of which 20 are Fall seats and 20 are Spring seats. Senators are charged with the great responsibility of serving as a voice of the student body and representing the best interests of the student in both fiscal and statutory matters.

Legislative Cabinet

The Legislative Cabinet is comprised of four Senators elected by their peers to serve as chairs of the three Senate committees and the Senate Secretary. These committees are Budget and Allocations, Rules and Oversight, and University and Student Affairs. The Cabinet is headed by the Senate President and the Senate President Pro-Tempore, who also serves as the chairperson for the Rules and Oversight Committee.

Appointments

Senators can either be elected to serve during the Fall or Spring Elections or be appointed to open seats between elections. If you have any questions regarding the Senator appointment process, please contact the Rules and Oversight Chair at sgaspt@unf.edu.

*Guests are welcome to attend Senate and Committee meetings to make announcements or ask questions at the beginning of each meeting during the 'Public Remarks' section.

Judicial Branch

The Student Government Supreme Court consists of nine justices. Out of those nine, a Chief Justice is elected annually to preside over the Court, along with a Deputy Chief Justice to assist. It is the duty of the Supreme Court to interpret the Student Government Constitution and Statutes. They settle disputes or complaints that students may have with Student Government, its agencies, and SG-funded clubs. They also represent the student body on the Academic Appeals Committee, Student Conduct Board, Parking Appeals Board, J-hold, and Fee Appeal Committees.
