UPD Employment Information

Minimum General Requirements
- 19 years of age
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Thorough background investigation (including fingerprint check)
- 20/20 vision or 20/20 vision with corrective lenses
Law Enforcement Officer
- Certified Law Enforcement Officer in State of Florida
- United States Citizen
- Valid Florida Drivers' License
- No dishonorable discharge from any branch of the military
- No misdemeanor conviction involving perjury or false statement
- No felony conviction
- Pass medical examination
- Physical agility assessment
- Drug screening
- Psychological
- Written Aptitude Test
- Polygraph
Police Communications Operator
- Proficiency in typing
- Ability to use computer
- One year appropriate experience (college or vocational/technical training may substitute)
- Must possess ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Pass FCIC/NCIC Teletype Certification
- Pass Florida 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator Exam

Training and Education

Starting salary for Police Officers: $54,730.72.20
Starting salary for Police Communications Officers: $17.19/hr
