Accessibility

Overview

The University of North Florida is committed to making our website accessible to all users and compatible with screen readers. It is our goal to comply with WCAG’s level A &AA success criteria.

Individual site editors are responsible for ensuring that content is compliant, which includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Content pages must contain a Heading 1
  • Images have descriptive alt tags
    • Don’t forgot to check your banner’s alt text
  • Hyperlinks have descriptive wording
    • Avoid using “click here” and “read more”
    • Link text should make sense out of context
  • Tables are formatted properly with column/row headings
  • Transcripts accompany video and audio files
  • Graphics have proper color contrast
  • Don’t underline words since this indicates a hyperlink

Testing Tools

Editors must run pages through a validation tool after making content changes to a page.

Web and Digital Services offers a class via CPDT.
